How to Get to North Pole, Alaska
By Car
- From Fairbanks: Drive southeast on the Richardson Highway (AK-2) about 14 miles. It’s a quick 20–25 minute drive.
- From Anchorage: Take the Glenn Highway (AK-1) north, then merge onto the Parks Highway (AK-3) toward Fairbanks. At Fairbanks, continue on the Richardson Highway (AK-2) to North Pole. Total drive is about 360 miles (6–7 hours).
- From Delta Junction: Head northwest on the Richardson Highway (AK-2) for about 85 miles (1.5 hours).
By Air
- The closest major airport is Fairbanks International Airport (FAI), about 20 miles from North Pole.
- From there, you can rent a car or use a shuttle/taxi to reach North Pole.
By Rail
- The Alaska Railroad stops in Fairbanks. From Fairbanks, travelers can drive or take a shuttle/taxi into North Pole.
By Bus/Shuttle
- Seasonal shuttle and tour companies sometimes connect Anchorage, Fairbanks, and North Pole, especially during the holidays when Santa Claus House is popular.
