How to Get to Haines, Alaska

By Air

Haines does not have large commercial jet service but is connected by small commuter airlines and charter flights.
The Haines Airport (HNS) is located just outside of town,
offering regular service from Juneau and Skagway on smaller carriers like
Alaska Seaplanes
and Wings of Alaska,
as well as charter flights.
Floatplane operators also connect Haines with remote lodges and other Southeast communities.

By Ferry (Alaska Marine Highway)

Haines is one of the primary ports on the Alaska Marine Highway System (AMHS).
Ferries link the town with Juneau, Skagway, Sitka, Ketchikan, and Bellingham, WA.

By Road

Haines is one of only three towns in Southeast Alaska connected to the road system.
The Haines Highway runs 40 miles from Haines to the Canadian border at British Columbia,
where it joins the Alaska Highway. This National Scenic Byway offers spectacular views of glaciers, rivers, and alpine passes.
Drivers traveling from the Yukon or Interior Alaska can reach Haines year-round.

By Cruise Ship

Though not as busy as Skagway, Haines is a stop for select Inside Passage and small-ship cruises.
Cruise ships dock directly downtown,
just a short walk from shops, restaurants, and Fort William H. Seward.
