How to Get to Wasilla, Alaska

Wasilla is one of the most accessible communities in Alaska, located along the Parks Highway in the Mat-Su Valley, about 45 miles north of Anchorage.


By Car

  • From Anchorage, take the Glenn Highway (AK-1) north, then follow the Parks Highway (AK-3) west to Wasilla. The drive is about 45 minutes to 1 hour.
  • From Fairbanks, take the Parks Highway south for about 5–6 hours (320 miles), passing Denali National Park along the way.
  • From Palmer, it’s a short 15–20 minute drive west via the Palmer-Wasilla Highway.
