How to get to Cordova, Alaska
Cordova is a roadless community—you can’t drive into town—but it’s still accessible year-round by air or sea
By Air
Alaska Airlines operates daily commercial flights between Anchorage (ANC) and Cordova’s Merle K. (Mudhole) Smith Airport (CDV).
Charter flights are also available from other towns across Southcentral Alaska.
By Ferry
The Alaska Marine Highway System (AMHS) provides ferry service from Whittier and Valdez to Cordova via the M/V Aurora or M/V Kennicott, depending on the season and schedule.
Passenger and vehicle service is available, but reservations are strongly recommended—especially in summer.
No Road Access
There are no connecting highways to Cordova. Visitors driving to Whittier or Valdez must continue via ferry.
Once in Cordova, local transportation includes taxis, rental cars, and walking or biking within town.
