Whether you’re in the mood for a short stroll or a full-day trek, Denali offers hiking trails for all skill levels. Below are some of the most popular maintained trails in the area. Remember: Alaska is wild, so pack accordingly and let someone know where you’re going before you hit the trail.

🟦 Horseshoe Lake Trail
A scenic 2-mile round-trip loop that winds through spruce forest and down to a beautiful lake shaped like a horseshoe. You’ll pass cliffs, beaver dams, and likely spot waterfowl or even moose. There are benches at viewpoints to rest and take in the views.

🟦 Mount Healy Overlook Trail
A steep but rewarding 5.4-mile round trip trail with panoramic views of the Nenana River Valley and the front range of the Alaska Range. This is a great way to get elevation quickly and soak in vast Alaskan wilderness.

🥾 Difficulty: Moderate to Difficult (steep incline)
🟦 Triple Lakes Trail
The longest maintained trail in the park, spanning about 9.5 miles one way. It takes you past three beautiful alpine lakes with views of the Alaska Range and occasional wildlife sightings. Some marshy areas are covered with wooden boardwalks.
📍 Trailhead: Either at Denali Visitor Center or near Mile 231 on the Parks Hwy
🕒 Duration: Full-day hike (5–7 hours one way)

🟦 Savage Alpine Trail
This 4-mile point-to-point trail connects the Savage River and Mountain Vista areas. It offers panoramic views of Denali and surrounding tundra landscapes. You’ll need to arrange transportation if you don’t want to hike back.

🟦 Rock Creek Trail
A less-traveled 4.4-mile loop that connects to the Roadside Trail. It features gentle elevation and forested terrain with occasional wildlife spotting opportunities.
